| | Ali, Your mothers advice made me laugh but it's wonderful advice. I do that with my husband. I was remarried 4 years ago to a man who swore to remain a bachelor forever. After we were married I happily went about the task of transforming his house ( trust me this place went beyond awful and disgusting) he grumbled and complained the whole time. Everytime the kids would ask what he said I'd tell them "Oh, He said that he is so glad we are making this place look so good." or " He said he doesn't know how he managed without us all this time." 4 years later the house looks much better and he has really said he enjoys being home so much more because it's so pleasant. |

| I got a "Oh thats a really good idea" and he asked if I had found something specific after I tidied up a cupboard that was full of empty boxes and junk....so far so good!!!
I'll work on the fridge gradually!! _________________ Ouissi x http://ajournalofdreams.blogspot.com |

| I'm crying from laughing so hard at some of your husbands out there. They are hysterical! I have to say, my husband can be a nerd so he collects Star Wars posters and paintball crap. When we moved into our apartment, he tried to secure a poster of one of his favorite paintball models in a thong holding up a paintball gun on our bedroom wall. Let me put it this way, all of his posters now line the inner wall of his closet! But aside from that, he and his mother used to work at Pier 1 Imports which is a store dedicated to a bunch of knick knack decoratives and some practical stuff. So he had a basic understanding of what looks nice, what matches etc... he wanted to help pick out every piece of furniture we own and he never went for anything too crazy which was nice to see. Sometimes I'd test him and look at something that wasn't totally gaud but not humble by any means and he'd turn to me to say, "Um how about no hun. I like this instead." and it was a practical tweed comfy couch that we now own. So I was fortunate to find someone who isn't gay and likes picking out tasteful stuff. As for the fridge issue, I have never heard that to be an issue before. My mother does the fruit thing and never had a problem with her fridge also. My kitchen is older than dirt so we don't have the luxury of a frost free unit... or an oven with knobs. |
