Unbelievably, we no longer have a real butcher in our town, and haven't had for years - I would LOVE to be able to shop for exact cuts of meat, or bones for stock etc. Another *sigh*.

Hi all
Just to add a little something - a huge expenditure that can really knock your budget for six is paying out for new glasses...A friend has just recommended glassesdirect.com to me. All you need is a current prescriptions (they say within the previous two years to make sure your glasses will be right for you), your optician has to give this to you at your request. Prices start at £15 for a decent pair of glasses (COMPLETE!). Having been someone who has only ever had one pair of specs at a time and has had to wait to replace them until they are too scratched up to see through this has been a revelation. I know this isn't the sort of expenditure that happens frequently but it can really bite you on the bottom when you do need new glasses!
