| I tried earlier to put a post up....it may appear elsewhere on the forum. I'm on a learning curve!
I'm from Canada and now live in the UK (emigrated here in 1983). We have two adult children and 4 grandkids, run our own newsagents and are very near to retirement....YEAH!
I have just come out of a dark almost 6 yr. depression and am enjoying being and feeling once again! I'm in declutter mode at home (everything went down the pan during my time of depression...need I say more!). I work in our shop and am following SIMPLE ABUNDANCE principles in the last few months. Sarah speaks to my heart! So now I journal and am also beginning "Illustrated Discovery Journal" through an online membership.
I love baking, am now eating healthily (after years of obese living...I'm getting some weight off steadily and slowly)...loving grandkids and life in general.
Won't bore you with any more detail....but so glad to have found this site and will look forward to getting acquainted...now that I have got posting sorted out! Love the whole site too.
Blessings, Jacquie x |

| Do you like the avatar piccie I've added? The dress I am wearing and my doll's dress were all made by my mom (she was a very accomplished seamstress).
It would be taken around 1956 I think and was made from felt...light turquoise was the background colour and the daschound dogs were made from brown felt, diamonte on the dog's collar. It was a fleeting fashion....sure wish I still had the dress!

| Hi Jacquie. Another ex-pat Canuck here. I'm from New Brunswick originally but arrived here in 2001 via B.C. We're planning on emigrating back soon.
Whereabouts do you hail from? And welcome to Brocante. Its a lovely place, cosy and friendly. _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |

| Hi Ali. I was born in Vancouver, B.C. and met my hubby there (he emigrated from the UK to Canada). After we married and had 2 small children we decided to emigrate to the UK, intending to settle in the south of England. Most of my hubby's family live in and around Liverpool and we ended up stopping here.
Now that we have our daughter married with 4 little children, living close to us too (lots of cuddle time with the grandkids) and our son still living with us for now there is little prospect (read: none) that we would return to Canada. The cost alone of going back would be prohibitive...and of course I wouldn't want to leave my kids/grandkids. I'm a real softie on that score.
I love Canada...I love England. So, either way I'd be happy. Hope your plans to return go smoothly and it is the really good decision for you, Ali.
Thanks for your nice reply. And yes, I feel so "at home" here on the Brocante site....I love the mix of N. American ladies and UK ladies. I can have a touch of both countries and traditions...I'm liking the friendliness too! You all seem to speak my language.
Blessings. Jacquie x |

| Welcome Jacquie!
My husband has a lot of family living in Liverpool, we love visiting when we can. And my first ever job was in a newsagents - I eventually took the Assistant Manager role when I first left school, and I don't miss the opening hours (4am!!!) to let the newspaper deliveries in!
That is a great photo, and what a very talented seamstress your Mum was - you must have looked fabulous all the time!
Hope you enjoy being a member of this little Brocante 'family' - I too find it very supportive and warm and friendly, with like minded thinkers.
