For me it is the images of the past and the words that accompany them that make my heart sing. I collect old photographs and postcards, books about keeping house and living well, womens magazines, old love letters, diarys and any other appealing vintage ephemera I can lay my hands on...

| | We collect the same thing! I have an entire wall of my house devoted to framed photographs of people I don't even know...although I do feel like I know them. My favorite find was at an estate sale--a family consisting of three sisters, along with mom and dad. I bought a whole lot of photos, with the girls starting as babies and ending as teenagers. The photos (studio photos) start in 1904 with the girls as babies, and end up with the girls as teenagers. I'm happy to have adopted this family! |

| | I always was attracted to old photographs...something I had always been attracted to..didn't do anything about it though til I moved to the mainland (US) a few years ago and found some at an antique store. I eagerly showed my husband my new purchases and he looked at me with this disturbed look and said "Gina....that's kinda creepy....we don't even know them....why would you want them in our house?" I tried to explain to him the attraction of it all but he just couldn't understand. Because of my insecurities, I had put them away in my closet. Every so often when I dig into my closet for something, I see the photographs. I immediately stop and just slowly go through the photographs....smiling and wondering about them. After a few minutes I put them away and continue life. I think it's time to bring my photos out....I just need to put them where my husband won't mind. |

| Gina, could you not create a scrumptious little album full of your vintage "family" and keep it somewhere close by..? _________________ Lots of love, Alison at BrocanteHome. http://brocantehome.typepad.com/brocante_home/

| | I thought I was the only one that loved these types of things. Until 6 months ago and I came on line got used to the internet I was amazed at exactly what was available. Im being very cautious and not buying all I see until I really know exactly what I want and in a style I want. Don t want too much clutter - lol. Thanks to this site Im really excited and ready to jump in now to buy but oh Ive no money now to start buying. Watch this space.!!!!! I will be awash with scrumpious wares soon enough. I love the ectectra shop at Cedar farm galleries and I have bought the bunting from there in a sale. I do like a bargain. |

| | I like the idea of the album for Gina. You could always keep it nearby. And my husband thinks my whole wall of photos is kind of creepy, too. He's gotten used to it, though, and it really is such a conversation piece when people come over. |

| | Although I am getting deeper into all things vintage, my first vintage love is easy to tell. Clothes clothes clothes!!! Style nowadays is either boring, showing WAY too much skin, or already copying off of something vintage anyway. I love the gypsy look! Also I love frontier wear (yeah I'm a goof) Just recently I've been trying to find patterns for 50's ish style dresses. Not that I can sew very well but I'm willing to learn! Donna Reed was so cute and homemaker-y! |

| | Marietta, that sounds like me! I love so many different styles. I think they are each a facet of my personality....I don't think I could choose just one! |

| Hi Amy, your pic of the photo wall appears to be ok now. It looks lovely by the way. My obsessions (where do I start) fabric is a really big one, teacups and china, buttons (another big one), clothes especially 40's and 50's style and old housekeeping books and recipes, old photos - I think this all comes from being brought up by my Gran who never threw anything away, bless her. |

| Oh, this is fun. Let's see fabric, patterns, buttons, trims are my first love. Then I started collecting vintage aprons and kitchen linens. I have a small collection of glass citrus juicers. I also have several vintage and older (1800's) homemaking books and more specifically-cookbooks. An aunt of my dh was a home ec teacher in the 50's so I have many of her books. My dh collects vintage Stetson hats since that's our last name. |

| | I would LOVE to have old cookbooks like that! I'm always trying to find a good, authentic old-fashioned dinner to make. That's really neat that you have a collection. |
