I can't remember if I've told you all about this cool vintage find I discovered recently. If I have, bear with me, my memory is rather faulty these days.

As many of you know, I'm very much a bibliophile and love browsing old used book stores.
There is a fabulous one here in OKC just a couple of minutes from my
work that I go to on my lunch breaks occasionally. On my last visit
there, I scored a fabulous vintage housekeeper's book. The spine is
torn off, which doesn't bother me, and I ended up getting it for only
$5. There is no other damage, other than old yellowed pages, so it was
a real find. It was published in 1901 and has everything from recipes, kitchen weights, cuts of meat, to household maintenance to being the family doctor. It's quite interesting to tell the truth. It even shows you how to use leeches to bleed someone. All kinds of really cool stuff like this. A section on decorating that has cool photos, a section on mechanics that tells all kinds of maintenance things, like how to plaster a wall and stuff like that.

Oh what joy $5 can still bring!

Oh way cool - I was just flipping through the book to look at it while writing my post above and found a handwritten note that says:

"this book belonged to Aunt G's grandmother, your great-great-grandmother, the one in the picture above the bed."

Wonder who Aunt G. is and what the great-great-grandmother in the picture above the bed looked like.
