| Hi all, just wanted to pass on an idea for an amazing wedding venue. We wanted something different ie not a hotel for our reception but were beginning to despair...However with the magical combination of a bottle of sparkling Bamrock Station Chiraz and the internet we found IT... We are lucky enough to live in East Sussex near to a steam railway where enthusiasts are busy renovating carriages and engines and restoring them to their former glory. To our immense delight we found that we could have our wedding reception on board the train as it puffed through the beautiful sussex countryside. It was like stepping back in time, all the staff are dedicated volunteers who wear authentic uniforms from the appropriate era (30's-50's I think), the carriages are absolutely beautiful, the station is pure vintage with tin signs and leather luggage. The 5 course meal was cooked on board and served to us on tables set with white linen, silver ware and flowers. What really helped to make our wonderful day even better was that everyone who came told us that they felt that they had been given a treat and made to feel special - what more could we have asked for? Price wise we were also amazed - a five course meal for 80 ish people, including local wine came in at under £5,000 - we had looked at other venues and found them charging £2-£3,000 just for the 'privilege' of using their venue! |

| I can imagine your guests went away with so many good memories of your wedding day...and as you say they felt so special at the "treat" they shared with you.
You did crack on to a very unique and gentle way to enjoy your wedding day....thanks for sharing your memory of that special day.

| Oh wow! I would have loved to have my wedding in a place like that... hmmm perhaps next time. Oh, just wait I am never getting married again so that won't work. I like single entirely too much for that nonesense.
So, post some pictures won't you so that I can live out my fantasties through your own wonderful experience? Pretty please with sugar and fairy dust on top?!? *smile* |
