Sounds like a lovely way to spend New Year's Eve Melanie! Except for trying to sleep through fireworks.

We were going to go to church for a game night, but I think I'd rather stay home instead. So we'll have some snacks and maybe a drink or two, maybe play some games with the girls and then hit the sack.

We've bagged entertaining in favour of getting a nice Chinese takeout and watching a movie.

I've made the bed - come on and squeeze on, girls! Now... who wants popcorn and who wants chocolate? Which DVD shall we watch? Something we can all sing along to, daftly! Ready, everyone? "There's a bright golden haze on the meadoooow! There's a bright golden haze on the meadow! The corn is as high as a Nelephant's Eeeeeeeeeyye! An' it looks like it's climbing clear up to the skyyyyyy...."

Have a wonderful 2008, everyone!

And most especially Alison because we all depend on you winning through against the lousy stuff and celebrating the good stuff - you're the reason we're here. So here's to a wonderful 2008 for you and Fin. Here's salt (for wealth and prosperity), black bun (for health and food) and a lump of coal (for warmth and shelter)!

Happy Hogmanay!

Oh, I can sing all the words to that song - as it's MY STATE SONG!!! Plus, I love that musical.

When we're done with Oklahoma!, can we watch The Sound of Music? It's my all time favorite ever and everestest.

By the way, I want popcorn AND chocolate - just call me Ms. Greedypants.

Good Lord, karlanee - there isn't ANY of that chocolate-coated popcorn left this morning!

And it's all over the cover of The Sound of Music, too... ;-)

Thanks for joining me at Hogmanay - have a wonderful 2008!

Sorry about the mess - I'll help you clean up! LOL

I did see in the new year - but not on purpose. Apparently the alarm was set for 12 am as a result of a power outage a week or more ago. I never did fix it because this week I've not used the alarm at all. Yesterday, while dusting the bedroom I must have knocked the alarm setting to on. So at 12 am I was awoken by a very loud blaring. I stayed up for an entire 2 minutes, while I went potty and then went back to bed where I was asleep again before 5 minutes was over.

Can you all believe itīs already 2008? I remember when 2000 sounded like such a big thing (I remember how I counted - in the year 2000, Iīll be 26 years old...), a new millenium and all that, and now we are 8 years into the millenium. Time do fly! And I canīt recall any computers crashing either (though they, as well as cell phones and digital cameras, has become a lot cheaper, and does anybody fax anymore?)! Happy new year, everybody!

I hope eveyone enjoyed New Years Eve. John and I played Monopoly (the Sunderland edition) and John won, the game went on for hours but it was fun, we had sixties music playing in the back ground. We counted the New Year in with Big Ben, and wished everyone a Happy New Year. Wow, 2008 already, I really wish everyone all the best for this year. I think we are going to take the tree down today, because it suddenly does not feel like Christmas any more, I am sad that it is all over, but it has been brilliant.
Happy New Year everyone.

Yep, me too - only keeping decorations up to fit in with family in the rest of the house!

It feels like 2008 to me, not Christmas - I'm raring to go!

I'm with you Laura. I'm thrilled to see what 2008 will hold. I'm praying and hoping it's a good year, filled with loveliness and grace.

I'm starting the year off by reading It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh - the guy from TLC's Clean Sweep - about decluttering your home.

Christmas is already a thing of the past for me, the little decorations I put up are gone (I havenīt carried the box down to my storage room yet, though), and Iīm so looking forward to spring. With that said - this morning I looked out on a world covered in snow, it did NOT make me happy...
A bit of a warning, Karla - if you start to declutter, itīs difficult to stop! For me anyway, I love decluttering, and when I start, no place is safe!

Happy 2008 girls!

We had a lovely New Years Eve. After having nothing really planned, it sort if 'evolved' - we went to our local favourite Thai restaurant with my little girl, my parents and my sister for a fantastic meal. It was going to be just us, but then my sister was still here at my Mum and Dad's house, and my Dad hadn't really been well over Xmas, so we thought he'd like to get out for a treat! Then we all came back to our house for coffee, chocs, a game of 'Buzz' on the PS2 - a great quiz for all the family and which my Dad in particular seems to get overly enthusiastic and hilarious about - and then champagne at midnight, with Big Ben and Take That (so much nicer 2nd time round don't you think??!!) in the background!

Very nice indeed, and my daughter managed to stay awake and see the new year in with us too (and this year she even texted her own friends to wish them a happy new year, just like us!)

I have to confess to only just having taken down the last of the Christmas decs and cleaned up after them yesterday..... I was really enjoying the lights and everything still making it feel cosy, and we had such a lovely long family break together I guess I just didn't want to let it go and get back to 'normality'....

Ready for a good spring clean now though!
