| November 5th on the calender, but modern living decrees where an event isn't a paid holiday, one moves it to whatever date is convenient.
This year it was last night, the 3rd. We went to the SILs for a bbq and fireworks. It always amuses me that fireworks are legal for sale to the general public here. Anyway, we had a nice time. Excellent weather; dry and not too cold.
For our North American members, here's a site that gives some interesting info on it.

| In our family Bonfire Night is usually moved to the next day (6th Nov), so as to celebrate my sister's birthday too! And so we are doing this year, at my Mum's house where we will all laugh way too much over the pathetic whizz's and bangs, worry way too much about whoever is lighting the fireworks, and then come in from the cold to eat way too much food and birthday cake!
I am thinking of taking along a cd of the 1812 overture to turn our little firwork display into a comedy 'firework extravaganza' just because I know my Mum will wet herself laughing! We all usually end up wetting ourselves laughing at something anyway... |
