Dear Alison,

It is my humble opinion that the "Donate to Brocante Home" button needs to be right up to the very top of your home page . . . so people find it and see it easily. Brash, perhaps - but not completely inappropriate (insert smiley face here). I had to search a while even though I knew it was there...

Thanks!

Thank you so much Gail. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I am trying hard to monetise BrocanteHome so I don't have to put Finn into full time childcare and go stack shelves!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Darling.xx

For long enough now I have thought Brocante Home should run a subscription scheme, but methinks our lovely Leader would never suggest such a thing, but look how much pleasure, information and companionship we all gain from Alisons hard work, new posts and links almost daily, I would happily pay an annual fee wouldnt you?

P.S The simple abundance site now charges a rather large fee, and I cannot imagine it is as well written and informative as this site.

I'd be willing to do so as well - I know my sewing site charges $3.45 USD per month to access "special features," which is pretty painless (comes out of Paypal's subscription function). For now, I'm just trying to make sending a little something each month when I pay my bills. Kind of a self-imposed subscription, I guess!

Actually, I think Alison has us so addicted that we'd probably go through extreme withdrawal if we couldn't check in and see what's doing that day . . . my home is a much cozier and prettier place since I started reading Brocante. I feel as though I've found my "tribe" . . . I don't know a lot of people who love the things we all seem to love.

I'd pay a yearly fee too. Not sure I'd pay what Sarah Ban Breathnach charges, but I would pay if it isn't too much.

I love it too much not too.

yes karla I think we all would, As far as I can gather Sarah BB is charging $60 ? not sure what that includes, but I think everyone will agree, Alison works sooo hard at keeping Brocantehome, interesting, funny, informative, I mean how many of you read her hints and think "Yes! I must try that!" havent we all Brocanted our handbags, prettied up our fridges etc ?

So come on Alison how about a subscription scheme? or even a poll to find out how everyone feels about it?

Or we could surprise and/or embarrass Alison by running over and pledging a small amount right now...the exchange rate is almost double the pounds for USD, and Paypal makes it easy...

Gail,

That's a great idea. I just did a small donation - all I could do for now, but I will certainly pay again if she does subscribers. It brings me too much joy not to pay a few dollars.

I wouldn't mind it if Brocante Home turns into a paying members only subscription.

I saw the Simple Abundance site and was taken back by the cost. Was it 60 dollars? To me, that is a big purchase. I did not go through with it. Now if there was an option for a re-occuring monthly charge of $5 a month for Brocante Home, I would have no problems with that.

That would be best for me too - and as I mentioned, Paypal has a "subscription" function - "Pattern Review" debits my account $3.45 each month, and I can discontinue anytime.

PS: *Love* the new photo - so glamorous!

I'd definitely go for an idea like the monthly subscription. The funny thing is - as Gina pointed out - $60 at once seems a lot, but if you break it out at $5 a month, it's much more palatable even though you are paying the same amount.

*THAT'S* exactly how I got in this mess! (just kidding...kinda...)

I'd easily spend that on a home dec magazine at the grocer and not think twice - and I've learned so much more from Brocante (you should see the inside of my purse...it's lovely and even smells good).

Gail,
So you're in the same mess I"m it sounds like. LOL

On the bag issue - I'm still trying to find the perfect purse for me. LOL I have been working on Brocanting my purse for some time, but can't seem to find the perfect purse. Everthing is either too big or too small! Right now I"m carrying one of the vintage purses I just got from EBay. I love it - but it's almost too small.

Wouldn't it be fun to take photos of our purses and share them? I bet we'd get great ideas from each other on Brocanting our bags! LOL

Karla

I've been making purses this year using vintage hawaiian fabrics with bamboo handles and then adding rhinestones (tastefully, of course!) and flowers. It's really fun to pick contrasting linings and hardware. My best vintage bag from a garage sale is a gold beaded evening clutch with a scalloped edge and a white orchid beaded in the middle...the original hand mirror was in the bag. Right now I have a hanky from Ireland, a moss-green floral dayrunner, a green and bronze makeup bag and a moss-green floral glasses case I stole from my sister Patty 'cause it was a perfect match.

The gals who work for me bought me a "pretend" Chloe bag in New York at Christmas. I know the drill on "not buying fakes" but they were so darn kind to remember me, and it seemed a little ungrateful to give it back. What I really want is the "Summertime" keychain from Coach.. http://www.jomashop.com/coach-5765-svmc.html ...just can't wrap my brain around a $38 keychain for my house key, but I'm in *serious* lust.

I think we have effectively hi-jacked this thread - and since I'm the one who started it, I don't know to whom I'm supposed to complain...

Off to make the bed and go to work - I *thoroughly* despise Mondays - they are so abrupt when you've had a great weekend at home.

Getting out my gel pens and highlighters to reconcile the not one, not two but count 'em three bank accounts at work...aiii! At least Gina and I have nice weather for today . . .

I've started a new thread under For the Love of Vintage area just for Brocante Bags.
