| Good morning!
I hope someone can help. I am a painter, and when clients 'Google' me, they're getting links to posts I've made on Brocante home.
1. I went to my profile, and changed my name to JUST my first name instead of first and last. Will this solve that problem? Or do I need to take additional steps?
2. Is there a way to remove my older posts that are being Googled? Or do I just wait them out?
Thanks so much! OohLaLaura |

| Oh this is a difficult one... it isn't possible to stop google indexing pages without applying some kind of complicated script...so thats a no go... but it would I think be possible for me to go into the files and remove all your posts... Leave it with me and I'll have a look... _________________ Lots of love, Alison at BrocanteHome. http://brocantehome.typepad.com/brocante_home/

I've just experimented and it looks like removing your surname has worked for your current postings - so if Alison can remove your older ones, then you should vanish from the world of Google!
I googled myself out of curiosity and found I'm working in a hospital in Australia and am also a 19 year old lifeguard in England looking for luuurve!!!

| Oh GOSH, Alison--thanks! However, you hardly have time to mess with that. I'll just be happy if I can keep future 'Googles' appearing. It's embarassing for clients to know I'm asking the best way to press my knickers with scented water or what-have-you. Thanks, other Laura--it is bizarre the things you Google out yourself, hum? |

| Oh I dunno, OohLaLaura - don't you think your potential clients will think "GOSH! Here is a woman who spends some of her precious time each week focusing her mind on her immediate surroundings in order to have a pleasant and welcoming home in which she can work to her full capabilities and release the complete and wide-ranging creativity, for which we seek!"?
;-)
It's nice to see the frivolous polka-dots (Alison I really do enjoy the background of Brocante, please don't ever change it!), but there's a serious side to this place, in my opinion.
People are realising slowly but surely that a life lived in a frantic muddle, scurrying along without ever pausing briefly to recharge the batteries, taking short-cuts all the time and never taking time to do a job thoroughly... that's not a good thing.
If Brocante means anything on a wider scale - in my view - it means that if your own environment is under your control, and if you are prepared to spend time and your own elbow-grease on doing something properly rather than just chucking chemicals at it because that's safer for yourself and your family and because it gives you satisfaction, and if you are intellectually curious enough to want to find out other ways of doing household things, and if you can appreciate beauty in your everyday utensils and furnishings... then you are a fully-rounded person, and probabaly more able than the frantic rushed haphazard non-housekeeper.
Housekeeping is a HUGELY transferrable skill - it teaches you lateral thinking, application of effort, the ability to see something through, to view the world around you in different ways, to develop routines that work and to stick to them, to value yourself more than most women value themselves... I could go on for some time!!!
