Yes, over here frost free is still optional. Anywho, the kitchen fridge is turned off and I'm patiently waiting for about 2" of ice to soften in the miniscule freezer compartment.

And I'm thinking homemade chicken soup. Must get the soup pot out.

I hate defrosting the freezer! But it is a job which must be done. Home made soup on a day like this sounds ideal! Yummy.

I defrosted my freezer a couple of months ago, and it took ages. Later, my best friend told me she used to put pots of boiling water inside, to make the ice melt faster. I canīt believe I didnīt think of that...

Well its only a tiny, bread box size freezer. I get the big, full size freezer done in about an hour. I started this thing at 9:30 this morning and have only just finished. And even then, I didn't get it completely ice-free.

Mine own fault. Its been almost a year since it was last done. I don't use that compartment at all. Its just that our full size fridge and freezer don't fit in the kitchen (their in the spare bedroom) so we use this little fridge that came with the flat. Otherwise it would be unplugged and in storage.

Hmmm. I too am someone who regrets not going for the frost free option.... doh!

It IS however one of those jobs that comes with a huge sense of satisfaction guaranteed when completed!

Oh, and homemade soup - yummy! I would LOVE someone to dish me up a steaming bowl full right now. Boo hoo.

We're going to be buying a new refrigerator soon, as ours is dying a slow and painful death. I'll have to remember this conversation! LOL

I wasn't aware they still made non frost free til we moved here. LOL! The new models are no problem, but the older ones. One place where vintage ain't a good thing.
