| Everyone appears set on messing me around. Things I ordered two weeks ago haven't turned up; my family have ALL been really winding me up; my boyfriend keeps going utterly silent on the communications front (yes, okay he's male...) and I haven't heard a peep from him since Saturday and am supposed to be cooking for us tonight - I think ruddy well not if he can't even reply to my text asking him what time he'll come over!
I have had it up to HERE [indicates level way above head] with everybody. Just before my parents left for holidays this morning (thank God or I'd be under arrest for parenticide...) they mentioned casually that the van outside would be the man come to take the carpet for cleaning - so I can't use the sitting room because it's got bare boards and all the furniture stacked up on top of each other and my arms aren't strong enough to move it and then re-stack it when the carpet comes back - and that's got the only TV in it so I can't watch any tv or videos.
My sister is the most ungrateful irrational self-centred [insert epithet of choice here] in the world and that's enough said on that point.
My boyfriend is an unfeeling unromantic MAN who takes me for granted.
I have furiously pushed all my bedlinen into the washing-machine, cancelled my evening in with boyfriend and am going to just iron and vacuum and beexwas-polish my way back to serenity.
By 10pm I shall have a spotless immaculate bed in a beautiful calmly tidy bedroom, smelling of beeswax and lavender and rose geranium, with an earthenware jug of garden herbs and cottage-garden flowers by my bed. I shall have a bath full of scented bath-salts, anoint myself with unguents and put on my antique nightshirt. Then I shall get into my beautiful bed in my beautiful room and eat persimmons while I read Agatha Christie.
People! PAH!!!! Gimme my cat anyday...
Yours grumpily
Snarly-Laura |

| Your post was really good Laura! I know you were angered when you wrote it but it did really pan well! (lol)
You have been messed about a lot.....and no tv....how boring is that?! You'll have to get some nibblies and a cup of tea sorted and have a good read...Agatha Christie sounds a good choice (as long as it isn't going to inspire you to murder...lol).
Boyfriends and men can be a blessing and a curse at times...hope you enjoy your own company until said boyfriend smartens up...or gets his marching orders...sounds like the ball is in your court there Laura.
Here's to a calming and relaxing two weeks with your parents away....despite carpet cleaning, inconsiderate boyfriends and all. We'll all be here for ya....keep poppin' in!

| | Oh I absolutely hate days like that - when the world seems to be out to get us! I do hope the cleaning and polishing and washing is therapeutic! |

| | Oh Laura, I really hope you are feeling yourself again soon and your stress levels drop, it is terrible when you feel really stressed and like no one appriciates you. Your plans to calm you back down and make you happy again sound wonderful, I hope they work, take care. |

| Oh dear. Hope you're feeling better now Laura!
Can I just ask - what's a persimmon??? Am I being thick?!
Even though I have no idea what they are, eating them in a beautifully made bed whilst reading Agatha Christie sounds fabulous! I want to do that....... |

| I'm sorry to say this but after reading all of this (above me) and I am sorry for your heartache and inconsiderate boyfriend and all but Jacquie put it quite nicely, it did pan well LOL.......
My friend said this about her kids when they were teenagers. and I think this applies to men almost permantly... When your children turn 12 or 13 (puberty age) the brain fairy comes in and scoops out their brains and returns them around the age of 20 or so (it varies per person)...maybe this has happened to your boyfriend Laura...LOL
As far as Agatha Christie...and tea and persimmons sounds wonderful way to unwind, I sympathize and say it is no fun at all to have plans and not have them work out the way you hoped, I only hope something positive happens before the weeks end and your parents come home.

| A persimmon is also called a Sharon Fruit - you wait til they are squashy like an over-ripe tomato, and often develop black spots all over them (just sugar crystallising beneath the skin) and then cut them in half and eat them by nibbling... mmm....
I'm feeling lots better today, thanks everyone!
I gave up on the laundering because I was just so damn tired. Gave up on the bath too! I made my bed with modern pillowcases, unironed, and an old duvet, and threw on a night-dress and slept like a log!
Now I've showered and washed my hair and shoved my contact lenses in for the first time in ages; I've finished this evening's work presentation... there's cheese on toast with garlic and Tamari soy sauce sizzling away; the boyfriend has been in touch properly and satisfyingly; and after lunch I'm going to happily housekeep for a good solid couple of hours - heavenly!!!!!
