| I am wary about cleaning the oven at the moment as the toxic nasty chemicals cannot be good for the baby....
is there any non toxic cleaners out there to keep on top of it??? My boyfrined is quite happy to deep clean the oven now and again but I'd like something to do it evry few days... |

| Are you sure your oven isn't a self cleaning model? It would say in the manual if it is.
If not, are you sure you need to clean it that often? The only non toxic solution I can think of is a paste of baking soda and water, used as a scrub. _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |

| My oven is 'self cleaning' - ie: you whack it up high every now and then all the yucky bits sort of burn off and you can hoover/wipe away. I have to say though, do you need to clean it every few days????
While mine was still brand new, I bought a couple of oven liner silicone mats (from Lakeland) to place at the bottom to catch any drips (which is then removable and washable in hot soapy water, it's totally non-stick so everything just wipes off easily), which have worked great at keeping the floors of the ovens as new still. I also just wipe the insides of the glass doors with Windowlene (cuts through grease) which is only like a lemon/vinegar glass cleaning solution, and a magic cloth each time I use the oven to keep them from getting splashes built up. They are like new still. As for the shelves, they can go in the dishwasher, or taken out and washed in good old washing up liquid if necessary. Or, sometimes I used to leave them to soak in the bath with laundry detergent powder (works a treat!). None of these options involve bad chemicals, and I hope it helps?
Incidentally, sometimes if you look in your local paper you can find company's that come and deep clean your oven for you - a good option to get everything 'like new' without you doing it yourself, and you can then do the above to keep on top of it each day maybe? Good luck! |

| | Oven cleaner is the one thing I use that is toxic and I don't mind. I know it's not good for you - but I've tried all the other natural products and the baking soda routine and they simply don't work on a dirty oven for me. So I spray using the no-fume type of oven cleaner. Let it sit according to recommendations, but put newspaper underneath the oven first. After I cleaned it at Christmas, I too got oven liners to put in the bottom - oh now that is so worth the cost! |

| As I recall, my mother used to fit a sheet of aluminum foil on the racks. Stopped any drips from getting on the racks or bottom of the oven. _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |
