| We have laminate flooring through the kitchen, lounge and hall....and I just can never get it clean!!!
I just hoovered twice and then used the floor cloth mop thingy and it is still covered in crud....I am slowly giving up!!
I mentioned it to Billy the other day but he just said his mother gets her's clean...but how!!!
With the bump I cannot sweep and scrub it by hand, although i am thinking of abandoning the hoover (I loath it) and getting an old fashioned broom like my mum uses on her tiled floors...
Anyone any ideas??? _________________ Ouissi x http://ajournalofdreams.blogspot.com |

| Gosh, this is a weird one Ouissi. I don't know why it wouldn't get clean, with hoover and floor cloth. I have a solid oak floor throughout my downstairs, and all I ever do is hoover it (with brush OFF), and use Mr.Sheen floor polishing cloths on the end of a swiffer type thing - and it always looks great. These are suitable for both real wood and laminate. Are you using a Dettol/antibacterial type cleaning cloth (which might leave a residue of some sort?) rather than a cleaning/polishing cloth? (which leaves a nice clean shine).
I think if Billy has the answers, let him get instructions from his Mum and give it a go himself!! He can certainly find out what her knack is?! |

| crud = fluff and hair and dust basically, not dirt...I think wiping the floor just makes things stick to it...
I used to have floorboards and never had a problem with those...I think laminate is just so flat it shows everything!!
Apparently Billy's mum uses a hoover and floor cloths....he says the floors look fine but I cannot be bothered lugging the hoover round and spending ages cleaning if it doesn't look like i bothered 5 minutes later ;(
maybe its the fact we have a cat???
I think I am just getting a little paranoid with the imminent arrival..i hate the idea of everything not being clean!! _________________ Ouissi x http://ajournalofdreams.blogspot.com |

| I thought you could get floor dusters that were magnetic or something. The dust and hair sticks to it. Like the ones you can get for dusting furniture. _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |

| Ooooh!!
I'll have to have a look...that would be soooo preferable to the hoover!!

| | Yep - you can get those dusting cloths (Flash, or Pledge I think) that I also affix to the same swiffer type contraption that I attach the wet floor cloths too, and use that for getting under places the hoover can't reach. They even smell lovely and lemony! They really do sort of 'magnetically' attract the fluff and stuff - worth a go. You can get them in any supermarket. That's sure to do the trick! (and yes, with two cats myself, i know the curse of the ever present cat hair.....) |

| I use those (both wet and dry types) of the Swiffer brand here in the US on my linoleum kitchen and bathroom. They are awesome. Especially for hairy households like ours - we have 2 pugs, a lhasa, three female humans with long hair that falls out easily and a hairy hairy man that is balding. Lots of hair. If it weren't for the hoover, and the electrostatic cloth thingies, I'd go insane. And for the record - my floors are white and all the hair around here is dark. LOL
If you don't like the idea of the waste of all that paper product on the floor cloths - you can buy washable microfiber floor "mops" that are the same but they are reusable. |

| | I'm amazed I am not bald Karla, with the amount of hair I lose in the shower when I wash my hair and all over the floor on a daily basis! Just seem to have lots of it! |

| I'm bumping this up as I'm having problems keeping the laminate in our bathroom looking clean. I think its the wrong type of flooring for that room. At least its not what I would have chosen. It forever seems to have water marks on it and looks dull.
Its the same flooring through out the apartment, but in this one room, it perpetually looks dull and grubby. I use an eco-friendly all purpose cleaner on it, which is about all your supposed to use, and can't think what else I can do. If anything.

| Just adding to this; found a thread on MoneySavingExpert that raves about a product called Stardrops. And another product by the same company called Starclen. Anyone here heard of it/use it?
I understand its getting hard to find, but I'm going to see if can source some as it sounds like it cleans anything and is a miracle stain remover.
