| The weather is sunny one minute and cloudy and looking like rain the next, it rained most of yesterday, but got out sunny and warm at about 7.00pm, so at 7.30pm John mowed the lawn, so at least that is one job out of the way. It is John's dad's birthday today, so this is the plan for today, I am going to get all the house cleaned soon so we can leave for about 12.00pm. We will walk to Johns parents with Scrappy, say happy birthday to Ran and give him his card and present, stay for a cuppa, then go to the hospital to visit our friend, stay there a while, pick Scrappy up and walk home, and once we are home we can relax, perfect.
So I hope you all have a wonderful day, take care all. |

| Morning/afternoon all. I've been under the weather the past few days, but I'm back and crabby as ever!
The usual no-show Summer weather continues here. I just ignore it now. No point in doing otherwise. I've got a load of laundry done, scrubbed the bathroom and am talking myself into vacuuming the two long flights of stairs that is our private entrance up to the apartment.
Fish for supper. Not sure how I'll do it, but fish it shall be. Have a better one ladies! _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |

| Whew! Box-room in attic now empty except for small wardrobe that's staying there... now I just have to vacuum, polyfilla the cracks between floorboards, paint floor with undercoat, paint floor with two coats of paint, measure beforehand for beds, buy beds, assemble beds, find duvet-covers we bought three years ago in toile de jouy, make beds, get the spare TV and the girls' DVD player set up in there, find a spare rug and side-lamp and then... invite my nieces over to stay!
As well as sort out EIGHT boxes measuring 3x2' and 18 inches high filled with totally muddled-up paper that is mostly but not all to do with my PhD and work out what I have and what I don't have in order to restart it next week; then all I have to do is re-do all the out-of-date research and type up one hundred thousand words of high-quality thesis, get it printed and bound, and submit it within one year...
Oh and have a life sometime too!

| | Laura - I'm exhausted just reading all of that. You are definitely a woman on a mission, or 10. LOL |

| karla, the funny thing is that I seem to have changed into The Kind Of Person who enjoys being busy and active and clearing detritus and sorting things out!
The first clearing a couple of weeks ago was painful, but now it's entirely work-related paper (I'm finding detailed grant applications from projects that never happened in 1998 mixed up with 2006's draft chapter of Phd... totally muddled!). It has no emotional baggage attached... and the prospect of my nieces having a place to call their own here... it's a tiny box-room with a sloping ceiling, maybe 8 foot by 10 foot and most of it you can't stand up in, and a tiny 24x12" skylight, but I can make it nice and snug for them and their friends! As things are, they don't feel they can have friends over to stay at home because they can't feel confident that their mother won't burst in at 2am screaming and ranting and yelling obscenities at everyone; once she made a visiting child get out of the house in the middle of the ngiht and my nieces had to get the child to hide in a nearby doorway, get their mother to bed and then fetch the shivering pyjamaed child back in again...
That's some incentive.
Did I mention I'm giving up smoking in the autumn? I've wanted to for years as I am healthy in other ways and it irritates me that I'm dependent on this stupid stuff, but I also realised that in 10 years' time I'll be pushing 50 and if I keep smoking I'll just be more likely to be ill - colds, flu, chest infections, all those things... whereas if I quit now before 40 I can be fit and healthy and strong at 50, as the girls start their working lives with little support - their grandparents will be over 80 by then so they will only have me to rely on - and I NEED to be in a conditon to rely upon!
I've never been a Responsible Adult before - time to start trying!

It sounds like you deserve the "most changed" award if there was one. Bravo! Hi Kara how's the job does it feel like you're not the new girl any longer? Sometimes that's good and bad..... Mel have a lovely unrainy day and you to Laura.... |

| Laura - I'd like to become that person on a regular basis - a cleaning, clearing maven. I get brief spurts of it, but it wanes quickly. I'm so proud of you for taking on the issue of smoking. I know you can do it, with the right support! We're here for you girl!
Barbara - the job is going really well. I suppose the real test will be the last two weeks of July. That's when my sales rep I work with/for goes on vacation for 2 weeks. I'm not afraid to admit I'm scared. LOL But there are plenty of people to help me out. It's going to be a good lesson in working through stress and fear. Something I've not had too much of for the past 4 years at work really. |
