| Today is going to be a really busy day, and would you believe it, I feel awful, my cramp is killing and I just want to go back to bed and stay there all day, but I cant, so I have taken some paracetamol and codene tablets which will hopefully kick in soon. I have to quickly to do the housework, get ready, then John and I have to dash out to get the groceries, dash back home as a friend from the camera club is coming as he wants John to learn him how to use his camera, then John is going on a model shoot in Newcastle this afternoon, so he will be out for afew hours, my mam is coming round for tea, so I shall cook her tea and prepare something for when John returns, so it is all go, go, go today, I cant wait until this day is over, I hate rushing around. Our friend stayed in hospital yesterday, but has been sent home today, and has to go back in the morning. He does not have the results of his scan yet, hopefully he should get them tomorrow.
Well, better go, loads to do, have a good day ladies. |

Morning all. Hazy, windy and warm here. Pollution levels are awful today. I'm trying to keep the apartment cool without having to open too many windows.
I've got a load of laundry done and need to nip out for milk.
Have a better one girls! _________________ Bloomin' Lovely Blog Pumpkins on the Vine |

| It's one of the rare days when we are so glad our 1890s house was built with a form of air-conditioning!
To keep it cool in the mornings, we open the back door facing South-West and in shade til about 2pm; in the afternoons we open the front door, facing East and in shade after about noon. They built a whacking great cupola skylight over the stairs form ground to first floor but put an openable smaller skylight in the attic landing by my room, so we prop that on its widest setting and the cool air comes in from whichever door is shaded, the hot air rises, spirals up the hosue and exits out of the roof!
It took us years to realise that an old house is just about ALWAYS built to adapt to temperatures! One year in December my father had open surgery and was just home and our boiler broke - we have one little coal fire in our drawing-room so we kept that in 24 hours a day and the room never got cold because the heat stayed in the stonework of the walls!
Maybe that's the eco way forward? We are the only people we know who change curtains for warm weather and back for cold weather, and who change the way we use the house in different seasons. It's silly as many houses in Scotland are old stonebuilt ones and could be used this way!
Other countries of course just built more efficient houses, like Scandinavia and much of mainland Europe... we no longer do but we used to!

| | I understand that...this whole eco way is crazy because our grandparents and so on where eco before they knew what the word meant. My aunt and others always composted, the houses were built with porches and were facing certain ways and so on. In Ohio, the farm houses have a wall of evergreens to protect the house from the wind and the drifting snow....The basements were built low and very cool and of course that's were you put your canned goods either there are the root cellar. There is so much we could learn from stepping back in time and applying it to today... |
